A Family-Owned Tuscan Treasure
Nestled in the picturesque Tuscan landscape, where vineyards stretch like green carpets across rolling hills, lies Le Miccine. This family-owned winery is located just about an hour’s drive from Florence, in the world-renowned Chianti Classico region.
Le Miccine has long been a cherished part of the Chianti countryside. Historically, the estate served as a resting place for travelers and their donkeys. The name Le Miccine comes from a local dialect word meaning “small female donkeys.” The vineyards were first planted around 1960, marking the beginning of wine production on the estate.
Traditionand innovation
Today, the more than 300-year-old property comprises seven hectares of vineyards, a small olive grove, and a traditional Tuscan stone farmhouse. The building sits peacefully in the landscape at the end of a gravel road, flanked by tall cypress trees standing like silent guardians.
Le Miccine is a Danish family-owned winery and vineyard, led by a dynamic and youthful team. The owners, Andreas and Kathrine, took over the estate in 2024. They honor the traditions of the Chianti Classico area while embracing innovative approaches in both vineyard management and winemaking.
The estate is committed to organic wine production, cultivating the land with care and respect for nature to ensure healthy soils, biodiversity, and wines that reflect the purity of the terroir.
